So that children can have a successful experience in Daglio, children should:

  • stay for the full camp (please contact the organisers if you would like to discuss this)
  • The first 2 days of the camp are spent learning how the camp runs: we provide safety information, do introductions and team building exercises, and present and choose the Camps' activities. Late arrivals miss out on these fundamental sessions and we have found that this affects the experience of the Camp. Those leaving early will miss out on the closing events, and affect their team balance
  • meditate regularly at home and of their own free will
  • Children take the lead in morning and evening meditation during the Camp, supported by the Yuvas and adults in their team. The experience teaches them how to make the meditation their own
  • have a desire to come to the Camp and be fully prepared to accept the rules and procedures of the camp
  • Everyone is valued in Daglio, and everyone offers something. Everyone contributes to the smooth and successful running of the Camp
  • be properly identified with the Sahaja Yoga culture and norms of behaviour

  • Accommodation will be in dorms, a Girls Dorm and a Boys Dorm - parents are encouraged to share any important/useful information about the children with the organisers, prior to joining. It is very important that the organisers understand the character of a child, and any particular needs
  • Shower and toilet facilities are separate, one section for boys and one for girls
  • Volunteers sleep in the dorms, or sometimes in the separate bedrooms (according to their role in the camp) - volunteers are vetted before joining the camps (coordinator recommendation)
  • Children will be put into international groups of mixed ages, or “Houses” - all efforts will be made to try and support a child's needs
  • Each group will have 1 or 2 experienced adults/Yuvas attached to it - children are encouraged to speak to the adult/yuva in their group, or speak to the organisers
  • The groups will be responsible for chores in the camp, on a rotational basis
  • Each group will be responsible for: morning meditation; cleaning the mediation room; cleaning the bathrooms; washing up and all other collective chores (or Punyas!)
  • There will be a wide variety of creative activities (art, dance, drama, music etc) for the children to choose from, as well as making suggestions of their own.
  • There will also be a mixed programme of outdoor activities and team games.
  • Each group will be responsible for making sure that all its members attend all activities of the camp (all activity sessions are compulsory).
  • During Pujas, Havans, etc. children will be actively encouraged to take the lead

Accommodation in Daglio is spartan (dorms, not so hot water etc.). The real joy of the camp is the depth of strong vibrations in a very close Sahaj collectivity.

What to bring - Label everything with your child's name (every year we have a big pile of lost and found!)

  • Clothes to wear on the camp (which should be dignified and express Sahaj culture) and appropriate sports attire for sports activities and walks
  • Sleeping bag
  • Sleeping mat (a must if planning to join the 2-day walk)
  • A bed sheet to cover the mattress
  • A pillow (if desired)
  • Towels; toiletries; a reserve toothbrush
  • Clean set of Saree; Punjabi; Kurta for Puja, Havan and for visits to the Castle
  • As many changes of clothes as possible, especially for the youngest children, as washing facilities are sparse
  • Plastic bag/laundry bag for dirty clothes
  • Warm pullover and/or a fleece for cool nights
  • Water bottles (one big or two small - at least 1 Liter in total)
  • Hiking boots
  • Trainers for sports activities
  • Flip-flops/Crocs for shower
  • Backpack
  • Bathing suit
  • Rain jacket
  • Sun cream
  • Sun hat
  • Song Book (or at least booklet with most common bhajans)
  • Pocket money: €20 - €30 is sufficient
  • Card games/ board games to play during quiet time
  • Reading books/colouring in books/comic strips

What not to bring

  • Foods in backpack, such as sweets and chocolates - these attract rodents, and will be eaten through the bags
  • Excessive amounts of pocket money - everything over the suggested amount usually gets invested in hoarding sweets and chocolates (which then get eaten by mice)

Electronic device policy

  • Usage of electronic devices is discouraged and the rules will be explained at the start of the camp, however they are useful for taking pictures of the surrounding landscape.
  • Please note that wifi is not available and connectivity is very limited in the area.
  • Note to parents - excessive contact with your child can affect their socialisation at the camp, so please refrain from calling/messaging, and encouraging them to call/message you. Please speak to the organisers if you would like to discuss this further.

This is the second item's accordion body. It is hidden by default, until the collapse plugin adds the appropriate classes that we use to style each element. These classes control the overall appearance, as well as the showing and hiding via CSS transitions. You can modify any of this with custom CSS or overriding our default variables. It's also worth noting that just about any HTML can go within the .accordion-body, though the transition does limit overflow.

There is a WhatsApp group for volunteers.

Volunteer meetings before the start of the camp

We will have two calls before the camp to talk about activities and organisation of the Camp - camp standards, behaviours, safety, kitchen organisation etc. We will also discuss how to “open” and “close” a Camp, where pertinent. These calls are mandatory for all volunteers

During the camp

A volunteer's commitment is 24/7 and the goal is that our attention is always on the children and their wellbeing
